history
On January 1, 1973, Bokel was incorporated into the city of Papenburg.
The Meyer Werft area has always belonged to Bokel, but since its expansion between 2002 and 2008 to the east bordering, at the time newly created district of Unterende .
Culture
The big summer festival in Bokel takes place on the first weekend in August.
