Bonaventura Corti (born February 26, 1729 in Viano in the province of Reggio Emilia , † February 3, 1813 in Reggio nell'Emilia ) was an Italian botanist . Its official botanical author abbreviation is " Corti ".

Live and act

Corti received his first training at the Jesuit College of Reggio nell'Emilia, where he first studied philosophy and mathematics, then also meteorology and physics with Lazzaro Spallanzani . The focus of his later research was in the field of biology, where he was particularly concerned with the study of lower organisms such as the shiverling , rotifers , ciliate and especially with candy algae .

In 1772, Corti first discovered the phenomenon of plasma flow in the large-lumen internodial cells of candelabrum algae and published it in 1774. However, his discovery was forgotten again, which is why Hugo von Mohl and Matthias Schleiden discovered this phenomenon independently of him .
