The Bonney Bowl is a mountain basin southeast of the Sumgin Buttress in the western center of the Herbert Mountains of the Shackleton Range in the East Antarctic Coatsland .
The Bowl was photographed from the air in 1967 by the United States Navy . The British Antarctic Survey conducted the geodetic survey between 1968 and 1971. The UK Antarctic Place-Names Committee named them in 1971 after the British geologist Thomas George Bonney (1833–1923), whose field of work had included the formation of mountain basins.
