Observation tower
A first observation tower was built in 1882 by the builder Theodor Dalbazzi . After a visit by King Albert of Saxony in 1883, the tower was named King Albert Tower . The tower was destroyed by a tank shell in 1945.
The new observation tower, built from natural stone in the 1950s, is known as the Borberg Tower . It has 53 steps. From 1986 to 2006 the tower was closed due to its dilapidated stairs. After the renovation in 2006, donations of 12,100 euros were collected to raise the tower, but this was not approved. The money raised was therefore used in 2016 to remove loose particles from the structure by means of sandblasting, to re-grout the stones of the tower and to improve the lightning protection system, which cost a total of 17,500 euros.
Above the entrance to the tower is the "King Albert memorial plaque", which also describes the history of the tower.
