The Borbet GmbH is a German manufacturer of light alloy wheels . The headquarters of the owner-managed family business is Hallenberg - Hesborn in the Sauerland .

history

The Borbet company was founded in 1881 as a brass foundry by Gustav Borbet in Altena , Westphalia . In 1928 Wilhelm Borbet expanded production to include aluminum sand casting. In 1962, Peter Wilhelm Borbet founded today's company headquarters in Hallenberg-Hesborn. Initially, various cast parts were produced at the new location, and the production of light alloy wheels began in 1977.

From 1989 the company expanded continuously through takeovers, first CW-Fahrzeugtechnik, later Austria Aluguss (1996), Kronprinz Aluguss (2001) and AWI South Africa (2003). Borbet GmbH also built two new plants in Medebach (1998–2001) and Bad Langensalza (2003). The plant in Bad Langensalza, Thuringia , was completed in November 2003, after just 15 months of construction. In 2015 a new plant was founded in Kodersdorf , Saxony , the Borbet Sachsen GmbH.

Corporate structure

The Borbet Group is present at eight locations on two continents. The locations are spread over the plants in the Sauerland with locations in Hallenberg, the Hesborn district (main plant) and Medebach. Other plants are Borbet Thüringen GmbH in Bad Langensalza, Borbet Solingen GmbH (formerly Kronprinz Aluguss) in Solingen , Borbet Vertriebs GmbH (formerly CW Fahrzeugtechnik) in Niederneuching , Borbet Sachsen GmbH in Kodersdorf, Borbet Austria (formerly Austria Aluguss) in Ranshofen ( Austria ), Borbet SA in Port Elizabeth ( South Africa ).

Borbet produces 96 percent of the original equipment manufacturer OEM goods for automobile manufacturers (e.g. BMW , Chrysler , Daimler AG , Ford , General Motors , Porsche , Volkswagen AG ) the remaining 4 percent is produced for the aftermarket.
