The Dortmund Borussia brewery in the north of Dortmund existed from 1885 until it went bankrupt in 1901.

history

In 1875, Herman Tepel and Eduard Habich founded the Bairisch beer brewery on Steigerstrasse in the north of Dortmund. From this Eduard Habich founded the Borussia Brewery in Dortmund in 1885. Borussia beer became the favorite brand for many workers in Dortmund's steel and mining industry.

bankruptcy

By the time it went bankrupt in 1901, triggered by increasing competition, it had achieved an annual output of 12,000 hectoliters . The creditors decided on November 8, 1901 to found the Dortmund Hansa brewery with a share package of 350,000 marks concluded on December 12, 1901. Their official start was on February 1, 1902.

Borussia Dortmund

On December 19, 1909, the story of Borussia Dortmund began near Borsigplatz . About 50 young men from the Catholic Trinity Congregation met in the restaurant "Zum Wildschütz". In the meeting room she was inspired by an old brewery advertisement for the name Borussia .
