Both Worlds was an American hardcore band from New York City .

Band history

Both Worlds was a kind of American hardcore supergroup founded by singer John Joseph after he left his previous band Cro-Mags in an argument and passed the time as a roadie for Bad Brains for a while. With AJ Novello and Jimmy Mo two members came from the hardcore / metal crossover band Leeway . The band released the MCD Beyond Zero Gravity in 1996 on Another Planet Records . The band then toured the United States in support of Helmet , Life of Agony , Earth Crisis and Misfits .

In 1998 the group recorded the album Memory Rendered Visible together with producer Michael Barbiero ( Soundgarden , CIV ). The album was released through Roadrunner Records . Shortly afterwards the band broke up.

Music genre

In contrast to the Cro-Mags, the music of Both Worlds was strongly influenced by world music and combined melodic singing, hardcore and rap . The name of the band is based on the Krishna belief, with the two worlds heaven and hell are meant. The texts are also strongly influenced by Joseph's spiritual convictions and contain clear confessions of Krishna belief.
