Bouna Coundoul (born March 4, 1982 in Dakar ) is a Senegalese football goalkeeper .

college

Coundoul attended the University at Albany, SUNY from 2002 to 2004 . There he played for the college soccer team. Before that, he attended Martin L King Jr. High School in New York City. There, too, he stood in the goal of the school team.

Club career

Colorado Rapids

In 2005 he signed with the Colorado Rapids and made his debut in Major League Soccer on May 13, 2006, when he came on for the injured Joe Cannon in the 10th minute. In the next game, on May 20 against Los Angeles Galaxy, he was allowed to play from the start for the first time.

In the 2007 MLS season , he became the team's regular goalkeeper. In the very first game, opponent was DC United , he prevented a draw in the last minute. In January 2009, he could not agree on a contract extension with the Colorado Rapids and was released.

New York Red Bulls

On June 29, 2009, he moved to the Red Bulls. On July 25, he gave up his commitment for his new team, which met away on the Colorado Rapids. By the end of the season, Coundoul was able to establish himself as a regular goalkeeper. On November 30, 2011, the Red Bulls did not withdraw the option to renew their contract. Thus, Coundoul took part in the MLS Re-Entry Draft 2011, where he was not selected by any team. Since then he has been without a club.

National team

After his performances in the 2007 season , Coundoul was appointed to the national team for the first time in November 2007 by Senegalese national coach Henryk Kasperczak . He made his international debut on November 17, 2007 in a friendly against Mali when he came on for Tony Sylva in the second half . At the African Cup of Nations 2008 he was in the squad and played a game, making it the first player from the MLS to take part in the African Cup of Nations.
