Bow Mar is a statutory town in the US state of Colorado . It is located partly in Arapahoe County and partly in Jefferson County and is part of the Denver-Aurora metropolitan area . In 2009, Bow Mar had 824 permanent residents.
history
When the Denver area developed at the end of the 19th century, what is now Bow Mar was established as an agricultural zone. Several larger farms supplied Denver and nearby Littleton . As Denver grew after World War II , the Bow Mar farmland was converted into new housing development. The first buildings were built in the late 1940s and early 1950s. Most of the residential areas were completed by 1960. Bow Mar was elevated to town in 1958. At that time, the development was based on the Prairie Style of the American architect Frank Lloyd Wright . Most of the houses were one-story, on an acre lot of land along wide streets. Nowadays, many of these buildings are being rebuilt or replaced with modern developments.
Surname
The city's name is derived from the surnames of two pioneering farmers, John Bowles and John Marston.

Demographics
At the time of the 2000 United States Census, Bow Mar was inhabited by 847 people. The population density was 454.2 people per km ². There were 302 housing units at an average of 161.9 per km ². The Cairo population was 97.76% white , 0.71% Asian , 0.24% said they were of other races , and 1.30% said they were two or more races. 3.78% of the population declared to be Hispanic or Latino of any race.
Residents Bow Mars distributed to 295 households out of which 40.3% were living in children under 18 years of age. 82.4% of households are married, 5.1% had a female head of the household without a husband, and 10.5% were not families. 8.1% of households were made up of individuals and someone lived in 4.4% of all households aged 65 years or older. The average household size was 2.87 and the average family size was 3.04.
The urban population was distributed among 27.3% minors, 3.3% 18–24 year olds, 20.7% 25–44 year olds, 32.0% 45–64 year olds and 16.8% aged 65 and over or more. The median age was 44 years. For every 100 women there were 99.3 men. For every 100 women over the age of 18, there were 96.8 men.
