Boyd Shermis
Boyd Howard Shermis (born October 26, 1958 in Ventura County , California ) is a VFX supervisor who was nominated for an Oscar for Best Visual Effects in 2007 for Poseidon .
Life
He graduated from California State University, Long Beach , with a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree in music performance. From 1985 he worked for several years at Apogee Productions as coordinator and VFX supervisor for commercials. In 1994 he was involved in the visual effects for a feature film for Speed for the first time. In the following years he worked for films such as Batman Forever , Just 60 Seconds and Password: Swordfish .
In 2007 he was nominated for an Oscar in the category Best Visual Effects for Poseidon together with Kim Libreri , Chas Jarrett and John Frazier . He is a member of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences and the Directors Guild of America .
