John Frazier

John R. Frazier (born September 23, 1944 in Richmond , California , USA ) is an American special effects artist who has participated in numerous film and television productions. In 2005 he won the Oscar for Best Visual Effects for Spider-Man 2 .

Life

John Frazier grew up in Los Angeles and attended Canoga Park High School there . He then studied civil engineering at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College.

Frazier first came into contact with special effects when he was working in the props department while working at the Haunted House nightclub . The owner of the club then referred him to NBC in 1963 . From 1970 Frazier was involved in over seventy film productions in the special effects , later also in a leading position. He now lives in Los Angeles and is actively involved in several ongoing productions (as of 2009).

Awards

John Frazier was nominated nine times for an Oscar, but it wasn't until 2005 that he received the award in the category of Best Visual Effects for Spider-Man 2 . A total of around 25 nominations were made for important film prizes such as the Oscar , Saturn Award , BAFTA Award , VES Award or the Golden Satellite Award .
