Bröthen / Michalken from the air

Bröthen / Michalken , Upper Sorbian Brětnja / Michałki ? / i , is a district of the city of Hoyerswerda in the Saxon Lausitz . With 1406 inhabitants (as of December 31, 2015) Bröthen / Michalken is the most populous of the five districts of the city and is part of the official Sorbian settlement area in Upper Lusatia . The district consists of the places Bröthen and Michalken, which have formed the municipality of Bröthen since 1950 and which was incorporated into Hoyerswerda on July 1, 1993. In 1908 the joint syringe association was founded by Bröthen and Michalken, the first organized forerunner of the later Bröthen volunteer fire brigade .

Bröthen / Michalken is known for the Metaschk watermill and the Dubringer Moor .
