Germarii Brachynema is a Wanzenart from the family of stink bugs (Pentatomidae).
features
The greenish colored bugs are 11 to 14 millimeters long. They have an elongated oval shape. The front sides of the pronotum and the connexive (part of the abdomen that is visible on the side) are yellow or reddish in color. The lower end of the tapering scutellum is yellow. The membrane is transparent.
distribution
The species is common in the Mediterranean, but rare. The distribution area extends from Spain through southern France, Italy, Greece, Cyprus to the Middle East (Iran).
Way of life
The salty marshland in the coastal region of the Mediterranean Sea are a typical habitat for the bug species. One finds the bugs on various plants: Ephedra ( Ephedra ), Artemisia , Anabasis , Atriplex hastata , worm-shaped saltwort ( Salsola Vermiculata ) Oleaster ( Elaeagnus ), Alhagistrauch , Parrotia persica , Limoniastrum guyonianum , zygophyllum fabago ( Zygophyllum fabago ). In the Middle East, the bug species is considered to be a pest that causes damage to pistachio plantations. The flight time of adult bedbugs is in late summer (August and September).
Similar species
Brachynema cinctum looksvery similar to Brachynema germarii , but is shorter and less slender in shape.
