description

The bean-like yoke leaf is a perennial herbaceous plant that reaches heights of between 50 and 100 centimeters. The stem is bare and branched. The streaky shoots are strongly branched at the base, but ascending at the top. The leaves always sit in pairs on flattened stems between 12 and 15 mm long. The stipules are small and membranous. The actual leaves are ovate-oval and between 15 and 26 mm long and 10 to 18 mm wide.

The species blooms from May to September with yellow, stalked, spreading flowers . The five sepals are oval to ovate-elliptical and between 6 and 7 mm long and 3.5 to 4.5 mm wide. They are blunt and cuticle-like at the edge. The five petals are egg-shaped and of the same size as the sepals; their tips are blunt or with a small notch, they are orange-red at the base. The approximately 5 mm long, lanceolate stamens sit on 10 to 12 mm long filaments . They are papillary and orange-red in color. The five carpels are oval, about 4 mm long. The stylus is as long as the scar . The forms kind oval-cylindrical, between 20 and 35 mm long and 4 to 6 mm wide, hairless capsule fruits . The shiny seeds are oblong in shape, about 3 mm long and covered with tubercles . They sow between August and October.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 22.
