Brad Faxon (born August 1, 1961 in Oceanport , New Jersey ) is an American professional golfer of the PGA TOUR .

Career

After attending Furman University , he became a professional golfer in 1983 .

Faxon has won eight tournaments on the PGA TOUR so far and was one of the most successful players in this major North American tournament series , especially in the 1990s . At that time he was a permanent guest in the top 20 of the golf world rankings .

He was twice for the USA team at the Ryder Cup and played once for his country in the Dunhill Cup .

After suffering knee problems for some time, Faxon underwent an operation on his overstretched ligaments in his right knee in September 2005.

Faxon is one of the leading putters and won the corresponding PGA TOUR ratings in 1996, 1999 and 2000.

Private activity

He and his friend and golf colleague Billy Andrade have long been very involved in the charity sector and have received numerous awards. Founded in 1991, Billy Andrade / Brad Faxon Charities for Children, Inc. has so far provided more than $ 3 million to children in need in Rhode Island and southern Massachusetts . Since 1999, a golf tournament has been held every June for the benefit of this foundation, the CVS Charity Classic in the Rhode Island Country Club .

Brad Faxon lives in Barrington , Rhode Island with his wife Dory and four daughters .
