The Brand Highway is a trunk road in the west of the Australian state of Western Australia . It connects the Great Northern Highway at Muchea with the North West Coastal Highway in Geraldton . It is the most important highway in Western Australia and, together with the North West Coastal Highway, forms a large part of the connection between the west coast of Australia and the Northern Territory . The highway is part of National Highway 1 .

The Brand Highway was completed in 1975 and opened in 1976 by Prime Minister Charles Court , who named it Brand Highway in honor of former Prime Minister Sir David .

The highway runs through mainly agricultural areas. The special features of the highway include the unique wildflowers, e. B. Australian Christmas Tree , Kangaroo Paw and Grass Trees . There are also many state nature reserves and national parks . Dongara , Jurien Bay and Cervantes are the most popular destinations on the highway. There are several rest houses on the way.
East of Muchea , about 40 km north of Perth in the northern Darling Scarp , the Brand Highway branches off from the Great Northern Highway (N95 / R1) and runs north-northwest parallel to the coast. At Cliff Head he reaches the coast and accompanies her the last 97 km to the port city of Geraldton, where he takes the Geraldton-Mount Magnet Road (S123) and merges into the North West Coastal Highway (R1).
