The Paulaner Brewery Group is the lead company of the brewery group of the same name, which emerged from the merger of the Munich Paulaner Brewery and Brau Holding International (BHI). The latter was a joint venture between the Schörghuber Group (50.1%) and the Dutch Heineken NV (49.9%).

history

The origins of the former Brauholding International go back to 1979, when Schörghuber took over the Hacker-Pschorr and Paulaner breweries . The brewery interests of the Schörghuber Group were bundled in Bayerische Brau-Beteiligungs-GmbH & Co. Holding KG . In 1999 the name was changed to Bayerische BrauHolding AG . In 2001, this became part of the joint venture with Heineken, Brau Holding International AG . Between 2003 and 2009, BHI held a 45% stake in Karlsberg International Brand GmbH, a subsidiary of the Karlsberg Brewery . In 2005 the Fürstlich Fürstenbergische Brewery and the private brewery Hoepfner were taken over. Also in 2005 it took on its name Brauholding International GmbH & Co. KGaA . The BWI was organized into three brewery groups: Paulaner Brewery Group, Kulmbacher Group and Südwest Gruppe. The total output in 2014 was 6.5 million hectoliters , of which 5.7 million hectoliters were beer.

In February 2017, Schörghuber announced that it would merge Brau Holding International GmbH & Co. KGaA with Paulaner Brauerei GmbH & Co. KG . The new company will be run as Paulaner Brauerei Gruppe GmbH & Co. KGaA . Schörghuber holds 70% and Heineken 30% of the shares. The merger was completed on July 4, 2017.

organization

The BWI was divided into the following groups:

Today the breweries are subsidiaries of the Paulaner Brauerei Gruppe GmbH & Co. KGaA.
