The Brauhaus Riegele is a brewery based in Augsburg .
Today the Riegele brewery is the largest private brewery in Augsburg with over 200,000 hl . The company is fully family-owned, employs around 100 people and generates over 18 million euros in sales. The brewery also has a logistics center near the federal autobahn 8 and federal highway 2 near Gersthofen . Another company site is located on Frölichstrasse.
history
The Riegele brewery was established in 1884 when Sebastian Riegele senior acquired the "Zum Goldenen Roß" brewery, which originated in 1386. In 1904 Sebastian Riegele took over the brewery.
In 1911 a new building was built outside the city and the "Riegelehaus" was built on Königsplatz . At the end of the 1980s, the brewery acquired the naming rights for the lactic acid-based lemonade " Chabeso ".
In August 2009, Riegele took over the naming rights and the recipes for the products of the Lauterbach beer specialties that were in trouble. The brewery in Lauterbach, Swabia, continued to produce until the end of August 2009 before it closed and twelve employees became unemployed. Riegele have been brewing beers since September 1st, 2009.
The partner Sebastian Priller won the world championship of beer sommeliers in 2011 .
Frame house
The "Riegelehaus" (also called "Riegele-Haus", "Riegele Block"), built in 1911 by the architect Hans Schnell in the Art Nouveau or New Baroque style, originally contained a beer hall for the Riegele brewery. Today it is a protected architectural monument .
Products
In addition to beer , the brewery also produces soft drinks such as mineral water and lemonades . One of their best-known products is the cola - orange mixed drink Spezi . "Spezi" has been a Riegele brand name since 1956, but has also spread colloquially as a generic term for such mixed cola drinks. The Riegele Aechtes Dunkel was awarded the silver prize at the European Beer Star in the European Style Dark category in 2014, the Amaris 50 received the bronze prize in the German-Style Kellerpils category.
