To the white lion there was a brewery in Weißenburg in Bavaria , a large district town in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen . The brewery was located at Luitpoldstrasse 13 . After the merger with the Zur Blaue Traube brewery, the Mack & Michel brewery was operated at the same location .

history

Mack

Already before 1600 there was a brewing license on the house at Luitpoldstraße 13, a brewery was built in 1820. From 1855 the Mack family ran the brewery. Julius Mack was in charge until 1885, Elisa Paulina Mack until 1895 and Wilhelm Mack from 1895. As the brewery was flourishing, Wilhelm Mack had a new brewhouse built behind the main building on Heigertgasse in 1896.

Mack & Michel

In 1920, the merged brewery Mack with the brewery to blue grape (Michel) about Mack & Michel , the common brewing operation was continued in the brewhouse of the brewery Mack at the Heigertgasse to 1987 of the brewing operation has been set.

Summer cellar

The exact time when the Mack-Keller was built is not known. The summer cellar was operated at the end of the old Eichstätter Straße until 1922. In 1906 the so-called Bärenkeller was acquired by the Schwarzer Bär inn on the new route of the B13 (Eichstätter Straße). In 1922 Mack-Keller was relocated to the Bärenkeller, and in 1936 the restaurant business was closed.
