The former Wank brewery was located in Niederhofen , a district of Weißenburg in the central Franconian district of Weißenburg-Gunzenhausen and had the address Am Brauhaus 2.

history

The brewery goes back to a margravial brewery. In 1680 the Margraves of Ansbach had a brewery set up for the nearby Wülzburg fortress . From 1720 to 1722 the brewery was rebuilt and in 1791 the margravial became a royal brewery. These new owners had the brewery auctioned in 1803 and Georg Michael Klein, a son of the tenant, bought the property. In 1893 the brewery was auctioned again to Georg Zachmann, who ran the brewery until 1933 and then handed it over to his son-in-law Georg Wank. Since Wank set up a restaurant for the first time in 1934, the Bräustüberl Wank , the brewery was named after him. When the war began in 1939, the brewery had to be closed. The Bräustüberl existed until 1993. The brewery building fell into disrepair over the years, in 2012 it was demolished due to disrepair, the restaurant building was preserved.

Summer cellar

A summer cellar was laid out in Kehl between 1794 and 1798 and was managed until 1974.
