The Breitenstein is a 1661 m above sea level. A. high mountain in the Chiemgau Alps , over which the border between Bavaria and Tyrol runs.
The summit of the Breitenstein is about 1.3 kilometers south of the Geigelstein ( 1808 m ). Like this one, it is located between the Prien valley in the west and the Tiroler Ache in the east.
It can be easily reached on foot in about 45 minutes from the Priener Hütte . Other climbs lead directly from the Geigelstein over its southwest ridge and from the Wuhrsteinalm to the summit.
