The Brennet is at 1249 m above sea level. A. the highest peak of the Kirchmauer ridge , the southeasternmost foothill of the Kremsmauer . It belongs to the Upper Austrian Pre-Alps and rises between the Steyrtal and the Steyrlingtal .
The Brennet is located in the municipality of Klaus directly above the Klaus Castle and the mountain church , almost exactly between the two villages of Klaus and Steyrling . Thus it belongs to the northernmost area of the Pyhrn-Priel region.
There are no marked or secured paths to the summit of the Brennet, so the ascent is reserved for experienced mountaineers.
The Steyrling lime works is located on the south-eastern flank of the Brennet .
