Career
Brett Carson began his career as a hockey player in the Western Hockey League , in which he was active from 2001 to 2006 for the Moose Jaw Warriors and Calgary Hitmen . During this time he was selected in the fourth round of the 2004 NHL Entry Draft as the 109th player of the Carolina Hurricanes .
After the defender had already played for their farm team from the American Hockey League , the Albany River Rats , from 2006 to 2008 , he made his debut in the National Hockey League for the Carolina Hurricanes on December 7, 2008 in a game against the Washington Capitals . In his rookie year , the Canadian played four more games for Carolina, in which he remained pointless. The rest of the season he spent again with the River Rats in the AHL.
The 2009/10 season he began with the River Rats in the AHL, before he was called up after 14 games in the NHL squad of the Hurricanes and fought for a regular place in defense during the season. The 2010/11 season he started with the Carolina Hurricanes in the NHL, but after seven games he was sent to the Charlotte Checkers in the AHL. At the end of February 2011, shortly before the trade deadline, the Hurricanes put him on the waiver list from which the Calgary Flames selected him.
Between September 2013 and spring 2014 he was under contract with AIK Stockholm in the Svenska Hockeyligan , with whom he was relegated to the second Swedish division. Carson then left the AIK and was signed by Vienna Capitals from the EBEL in July 2014 .
