Brett Douglas Pitman (born January 31, 1988 in Saint Helier ) is a Jersey- born British football player .

Career

societies

Pitman began his career in Jersey with the local St. Paul's FC. At the age of 17, he moved to the youth division of AFC Bournemouth in the English third division in 2005 . There he made his debut on August 27, 2005 for the first team in the 2-1 away win against Bradford City , when he came on in the 88th minute for Dani Rodrigues . In the 1-1 draw against Blackpool FC on February 18, 2006, the 34th matchday of the 2005/06 season, he scored his first goal for the professionals after he had come to sporadic missions in previous games. In the following seasons he developed more and more to a regular player at AFC Bournemouth. After his most successful season in 2009/10, in which he had scored 26 goals in 46 games for Bournemouth, and after he had already scored three goals in the first three games of the 2010/11 season (a hat-trick in the 5-1 win against Peterborough United on August 14, 2010), he moved to the English second division for Bristol City . The transfer fee was estimated at around a million pounds sterling .

Although he was relatively successful at Bristol and even the top scorer of his team in his first season , he was later used less and less. To collect match practice, he was loaned back to Bournemouth in 2012, who committed him again for the 2013-14 season. There he came back more regularly and in the 2014/15 season, with 13 goals in 34 games, made a significant contribution to the first promotion of AFC Bournemouth to the English Premier League. Nevertheless, Pitman did not go with his club in the first division, but moved to the second division Ipswich Town . Since 2017 he has been back in the third division at Portsmouth FC .

National team

Pitman was born in Jersey and competes for the island's "national selection". Since the Jersey football team is neither a member of UEFA nor of FIFA, it does not play any official international matches, but mostly matches against other Channel Islands . Pitman played a few games for Jersey at the biennial Island Games .
