Brian Eric Phelps (born April 21, 1944 in Chelmsford ) is a former British water diver who started in 3-meter diving and 10-meter diving. Phelps participated in two Olympic Games and won a medal. He also won several medals at European Championships and Commonwealth Games.

Phelps took part in the 1960 Olympic Games in Rome and won the bronze medal from the 10-meter tower. It was the first and, to date, the only medal awarded by a British water diver in high diving. At the Games in 1964 in Tokyo , he was in high diving sixth. Phelps was also successful at the European Swimming Championships . In 1958 in Budapest and 1962 in Leipzig he was European champion on the 10-meter tower, and in 1966 in Utrecht he won silver. At Commonwealth Games , Phelps won the 3-meter board and 10-meter tower titles in 1962 and 1966, after winning silver from the tower in 1958.

After his active career, he founded the OLGA gymnastics club with his wife Monica, who was a British gymnastics Olympian in 1964 . They trained numerous young athletes there. In 2008 Phelps was sentenced to nine years in prison for rape , attempted rape and sexual abuse of minors. Phelps had committed the deeds in the 1970s and 1980s.
