Briana De Souza (born May 22, 1991 in Scarborough , Ontario ) is a Canadian soccer player of Guyanese origin and recipient of the Women of Influence Award 2013.

Life

De Souza was in the Canadian Scarborough in the province of Ontario born and guyanesischer descent Großväterlicherseits of the Father. She attended St. Mary Catholic Secondary School in Pickering , Ontario from 2005 to 2009 . She then enrolled at Carleton University in the fall of 2009 , where she graduated with a Bachelor of Commerce degree in spring 2013 . On May 5, 2013, she was honored with the Women of Influence Award 2013 for her voluntary work for the Boys & Girls Club of Ottawa and her work at the St. John Bosco Boy's Orphanage in Guyana as a volunteer . Her sister, Kayla De Souza , who is one year older , also plays football and is part of the Guyana national team alongside her.

Football career

De Souza started her career at the age of six in the youth of the Pickering Soccer Club, where she played for a while with her sister Kayla , as well as her national team mates Ashlee Savona , Mariam El-Masri and Ashley Rodrigues . won the St. Mary's Monarchs in her secondary school , the LOSSA Championship in 2007 and 2008, and the OFSAA silver medal in 2008. This was followed by studies at Carleton University , where she played for the Ravens Women Soccer Team for three years. In April 2013 she received the Carleton Women's Varsity Soccer MVP Award 2013 from Carleton University. She has played in the W-League for Ottawa Fury since graduating with a bachelor's degree .

National team

De Souza has been a national player for Guyana since 2008 and took part in the Gold Cup in Cuba for her grandfather's home country in 2010 . She was also named co-captain of the team under Ashley Rodrigues ' father , Mark. She has played in nine official FIFA internationals to date and scored one goal for the Guyanese women's national soccer team .
