Bridget Boland

Bridget Mary Boland (born March 13, 1913 in London , † January 19, 1988 in Surrey ) was a British screenwriter and playwright .

Life

Roland was one of five daughters of the Irish politician John Pius Boland , who won the first two gold medals as a tennis player in 1896 . Her sister Honor Crowley was a well-known Irish politician. Bridget Roland enjoyed her education at the Convent of Sacred Herat private school in Roehampton and then studied at the University of Oxford . During World War II , she served in the Auxiliary Territorial Service . There she wrote and organized various plays that were used to entertain the troupe.

She then wrote several plays, three novels and several scripts. For her script about Queen for a Thousand Days , she was nominated for an Oscar together with her co-authors John Hale and Richard Sokolove and also won the Golden Globe Award .
