Richard Sokolove
Richard Sokolove (born January 27, 1908 , † May 1975 in Los Angeles , California ) was an American screenwriter and film producer who became internationally known for the film Queen for a Thousand Days in the late 1960s.
life and career
Richard Sokolove, born in 1908, made his first mark as a screenwriter in Hollywood in 1946 when he provided the post-war story for director Albert S. Rogell's drama The Magnificent Rogue , which took place during the war. Lynne Roberts, Warren Douglas and Gerald Mohr were seen in the leading roles . In the early 1960s, he wrote the scripts for television episodes of series such as the crime series Peter Gunn by director Blake Edwards , made popular by the film music by Henry Mancini and the drama series The Best of the Post , inspired by stories from the American weekly Saturday Evening Post .
A great success as a screenwriter he succeeded in 1969 for the cinema, when he and John Hale and Bridget Boland the screenplay for Charles Jarrotts period drama Anne of the Thousand Days with Richard Burton and Genevieve Bujold wrote. For the film, John Hale's team of writers received an Oscar nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay and the Golden Globe Award .
In addition to his work as a screenwriter, Richard Sokolove took part in 1956 twice as an executive film producer on the films Without Love It Doesn't Work and The Conqueror with John Wayne .
Sokolove died in California in May 1975 at the age of 67.
