Brigitta Zöchling-Jud

Brigitta Zöchling-Jud (* April 7, 1972 in Graz as Brigitta Jud ) is an Austrian lawyer and professor at the University of Vienna .

Life

Zöchling-Jud was born in 1972 as the daughter of the Graz law professor Waldemar Jud . In 1990 she passed her Matura at the Academic Gymnasium Graz and then began studying law at the University of Vienna , which she completed in 1994. She did her judicial practice at the District Court of Hernals , the regional courts for criminal matters and the one for civil matters in Vienna. She then worked until 2003 as a university assistant at the Institute for Civil Law at the University of Vienna under Rudolf Welser . During this activity she received her doctorate in 1997. jur. In 2003 she completed her habilitation and acquired the venia legendi for the subjects civil law and European civil law. Her habilitation thesis was awarded the Walther Kastner Prize .

In the same year, Zöchling-Jud followed a call to Germany and from October 2003 held a chair for civil law at the University of Bonn . In March 2006 she moved back to her home country and held a professorship for civil law, comparative law and international private law at the University of Salzburg . She left this post in November 2007 in favor of the University of Vienna. Since December 2007 she has held a chair for civil law there. Since 2005 she has had individual teaching assignments at the universities of Warsaw , Verona and Krems . In addition, Zöchling-Jud has been admitted to the Cologne District Court and Cologne Regional Court since 2006 . From 2018 to 2023 she is Deputy Chairwoman of the University Council of the University of Salzburg.

Brigitta Zöchling-Jud researches in particular Austrian and European civil law, law of obligations, inheritance law, international private law and private foundation law.
