Waldemar Jud

Waldemar Jud (born November 26, 1943 in Salzburg ; † March 12, 2018 ) was an Austrian lawyer and professor at the University of Graz .

Life

Waldemar Jud was born in Salzburg in 1943 as the son of the commercial councilor of the same name and his wife Sofie. He completed his Matura at the Bundesrealgymnasium there. Jud then studied law and political science at the University of Graz with temporary study visits to Trinity College (Cambridge) , McGill University in Montreal and the University of Poitiers . After successfully completing his studies, Jud received his doctorate in both law and political science, thus earning a doctorate in both fields.

After working as a university assistant at the University of Salzburg under Rolf Ostheim and at the University of Graz under Horst Wünsch , Jud finally became a university lecturer for commercial law in 1978. A year later he was appointed associate professor for commercial law with a focus on corporate law and intellectual property law at the University of Graz. In 1984 he was finally taken on as a full professor for commercial and securities law at the Institute for Austrian and International Corporate and Business Law at the University of Graz. He held this position until his retirement in 2012.

Even after his retirement, Jud was still an active member of numerous supervisory boards, such as Oberbank AG , BKS Bank , Do & Co AG and Bank für Tirol und Vorarlberg .

Waldemar Jud was the father of the Vienna university professor Brigitta Zöchling-Jud .

During his student days in Graz, he became active in the Academic Landsmannschaft Viruna, a student association of which he was a lifelong member.
