Brigitte Baumeister b. Jauch (born October 19, 1946 in Stuttgart ) was a member of the German Bundestag from December 20, 1990 to October 17, 2002 (three electoral terms) . She was elected for the Christian Democratic Union of Germany (CDU) via a direct mandate in the constituency 164 Böblingen in Baden-Württemberg .

Life

After studying mathematics at the University of Stuttgart, Baumeister worked for IBM Germany and was a lecturer in medical informatics at the Heilbronn University of Applied Sciences . In 1992 she replaced Walther Leisler Kiep as CDU treasurer.

As chairwoman of the supervisory board of Schwäbische Finanz und Unternehmensberatung AG (SFU; Schwabenpool ), she was exposed to massive criticism. According to a court ruling by the Stuttgart Regional Court in 1997, the SFU defrauded investors by at least 5 million D-Marks (approx. 2.5 million euros) and had to file for bankruptcy. Baumeister denied having known of the events. After the Schwabenpool scandal, she was re-elected as CDU treasurer.

Baumeister was also involved in the CDU donation affair in 1999 . Your statements in this matter did not coincide with those of Wolfgang Schäuble . As a consequence, she gave up her position as CDU treasurer. In 2002 she was no longer nominated as a candidate for the federal election.

She is the mother of two children, is divorced and works as a company consultant.

In February 2004 she published a book in which she describes the party donation affair from her point of view.
