Bernhard Bauknecht (born March 31, 1900 in Albertshofen , † October 23, 1985 in Ravensburg ) was a German politician ( CDU ) and peasant functionary.

Life

Bernhard Bauknecht, who was of the Roman Catholic faith, first attended the agricultural school after high school and then studied at the Hohenheim Agricultural University . Since 1919 he was a member of the Catholic student union KDSt.V. Carolingia Hohenheim. In 1926 he took over his parents' farm. Before 1933 he held various agricultural organizations active in leadership positions, they had to after the seizure of power of the Nazis but to give up.

Bauknecht became president of the state farmers' association in Württemberg-Hohenzollern in 1947 (until 1973). On December 22nd, 1949, Bernhard Bauknecht founded the Swabian Farmer's School in Bad Waldsee . From 1954 to 1959, Bauknecht was one of the three chairmen of the German Farmers' Association with equal rights . He was then its vice-president until 1969.

politics

In 1928 Bauknecht was a co-founder of the Windthorstbund , the youth organization of the Center Party , in Upper Swabia, and in 1927 he had already joined the Center Party itself. In 1945 he participated in the founding of the CDU in Württemberg-Hohenzollern.

From 1932 to 1933 and from 1945 Bernhard Bauknecht was a member of the Ravensburg city council, and from 1946 also of the district council in the Ravensburg district .

From 1946 to 1952, Bauknecht was a member of the Advisory State Assembly and then of the State Parliament for Württemberg-Hohenzollern . In the state parliament he headed the committee for food and agriculture. From 1949 to 1969 he was a member of the German Bundestag . He represented the constituency of Biberach there . From 1953 to 1969 he was chairman of the Bundestag committee for food, agriculture and forestry.

In the 1949 federal election , he achieved 82%, the best first vote ever achieved in an electoral district.
