Brillis is a pop song by the German rapper and singer Shirin David from 2019. It was the sixth single from David's debut album Supersize and was written by herself together with Chima Ede and the track's producers, FNSHRS. , written.
Music and lyrics
Brillis is a pop song with RnB influences . The melody of the chorus is based on a sample by Ella, elle l'a . The stanzas and the chorus are sung by David. The title is just over three minutes long and written in E minor at 106 beats per minute. The brilliance in the title and chorus of the song refers to the brilliant cut of diamonds. She uses this in the song as a symbol for stars: We shine like brilliants in the sky . David sings about looking good and having a good time with her friends. Lyrically , Brillis follows singles like Gib Ihm or ICE , even if the arrogance and exaggerations stand out less strongly. Creation and publication
David wrote Brillis - like their entire debut album, Supersize , with their producer FNSHRS. and the rapper Chima Ede . The title itself appeared on August 23, 2019 together with the music video, after she had announced it a few days earlier on her social media channels. On August 28th - as with the previous single On Off - a making of for the music video, which was produced by Anton Schmidt-Wünkhaus, went online. The music video itself has over 14 million views on YouTube to date (as of May 2020).
Music video
The music video for Brillis was shot in Berlin under the direction of Allan Anders. It was David's second music video after Fliegst Du Mit , which was not shot in a studio. In addition to David, the video also shows the influencer and amateur actress Sandra Lambeck , the model Kristina Levina and the influencer and dancer Ivana Santacruz . The four women appear in a few scenes in a beauty salon, the streets of Berlin and, accompanied by a crowd of cheering fans, in Berlin's KaDeWe . In other scenes you can see her at a house party organized especially for the music video and driving through Berlin with quads or a Twingo. Furthermore, a scene shows David, surrounded by motorbikes in a parking garage, spraying herself with her own perfume, which was only released later.

Brillis received mostly positive reviews. The catchy character as well as the summer mood that the title delivers were often praised. The music video also received positive comments, mainly from the scenes with the fans and the collaboration with the other famous women in the video.
Charts and chart placements
Brillis reached number four in the German single charts and stayed in the charts for eight weeks. For David it was already the fourth top 5 hit and already her seventh place in the top 10 of the German charts. In Austria , the single only reached position 14 and only stayed in the charts for four weeks. In Switzerland , Brillis reached its highest chart listing at position fifteen and was only on the charts for two weeks.
