Never Know is a rap title by German rapper Luciano and rapper Shirin David from 2020. It was released on July 17, 2020 under Universal Urban, one week before the release of his fourth studio album Exot .
Music and lyrics
Never Know is a rap song that, like most other Luciano songs, also makes use of many drill rap elements. The beat is also quite hard and the two artists work with numerous Adlibs that are typical for Luciano. The song was written in A minor at 142 beats per minute and is three minutes and 16 seconds long. Both Luciano and David rap rather aggressively. It includes a vocal sample from Kelly Rowland's song Stole in the pre-hook and chorus. Lyrically , Never Know is more of a flex track (dt. Showing off), without a big topic or meaning. For example, Luciano raps from the parcel up into the charts, look, I live my film, yes or chatter too much, hate comments don't care . David on the other hand raps En Vogue, but still tough and pants down, string sits high, belly free . Both artists use many anglicisms in their rap parts.
Creation and publication
Luciano gave his first glimpses of the video shoot on July 6th when he posted pictures of the video set on Instagram . There was nothing of Shirin David to be seen there. It wasn't until July 12 that David and Luciano officially announced the song on Instagram, although many fans had already guessed the feature. Never Know finally appeared on all platforms on July 17, 2020, together with a music video of the two on Luciano's LOCOSQUAD YouTube channel .
Music video
The music video for Never Know was shot under the direction of PLUG with the 100BlackDolphins in Munich. Shirin David herself was involved in the editing and editing and is indicated in the credits. The color blue runs through the entire video in the form of backgrounds, outfits, and cars. Most of the scenes show David and Luciano together, but a few also show alone. While Luciano looks like always, David has black hair, but a strand of blonde hair on the right and left. In the music video, both rappers wear grillz and dance to the music together. After the announcement of the single, Luciano received a lot of negative criticism. Fans were very disappointed , similar to the arrest warrant song Conan x Xenia . Shirin David's fans, on the other hand, were enthusiastic. Even after the song was released, the reviews were different. Till Hesterbrink from HipHop.de said that David and Luciano harmonized wonderfully and brought the modern film across very easily . Criticisms included the senseless and incomprehensible text, as well as a similarity of the instrumental and beat to the song Runtz by the British rapper C1 . Never Know reached number three in the German charts , which is already the twelfth for Shirin David and the 15th top 10 position in Germany for Luciano .
