Orbit is a song by the German rapper and singer Shirin David from 2019. It was released as the first single from her debut album Supersize . David shared it with Chima Ede , Marek Popetzki and the track's producer, FNSHRS. , written.
Music and lyrics
Orbit is a hip hop song with rap verses and sung elements. The verses are rapped and sung by Shirin David in a rather soft voice while she sings the pre-hook. In parts of the song you can hear an intentional use of autotunes, but this is not as pronounced as with other artists such as Capital Bra or Loredana . David uses both the chest and head voices in Orbit . Lyrically, the title is about success ( four million on Insta or I'm sorry that you're unlucky, but I've been running since you were gone, ey yeah ), self-confidence ( the mirror image has always been my role model ) and an expensive lifestyle ( table full mug, gold leaf champagne glass or 500k in cash they pay me for a promo - formerly a small room, today I buy a couple of apartments ). The orbit in space is mentioned in the pre-hook as the limit of David's visions. She keeps mentioning a lyrical you, which she brings in connection with her ex-boyfriend and to whom she makes it clear that she is now successful, that “you” don't need and is better than “you” ( from your chick to a boss -Bitch, Boss-Bitch - I'm a doer, I don't hope, I don't hope ). In further lines she calls herself Real Life Cinderella or symbolizes her charisma with the words I walk past and they turn, ass and hips move - the appearance is epic .

David announced in autumn 2018 that their first single would be released this year. However, she did not live up to these expectations when she only uploaded a first audio sample to her Instagram account on January 5, 2019 and Orbit finally appeared on January 25. The cover of the single shows David in a golden setting with blond curly hair in profile. There was no music video for the single. In April 2020, when asked by a fan, she justified this by saying that something had gone wrong with the title.
criticism
Orbit received mostly positive reviews. The song received praise for the interesting beat, as well as David's vocal performance and the work of the producers. Occasionally David's pronunciation was criticized as being somewhat indistinct. Many fans also missed a music video.
Charts and chart placements
Orbit reached number five in the German single charts and stayed in the charts for a total of four weeks and in the top 10 for one week . In Austria , the single reached position nine and was able to hold two in the charts. In Switzerland , Orbit reached position 14 in one week of the chart.
In all DA-CH countries it reached the single charts again for the first time in four years, most recently it was placed in 2015 with You don't love me . Orbit is not David's second chart success in the three countries after You love me . In Germany and Austria, it is also her second top 10 success.
