history

The company's origins go back to 1778. Wilhelm Boltersdorf married Katharina Elisabeth Strepp and thus joined Tillmann Strepp's “Kreuzauer Mühle” paper mill in Kreuzau - Untermaubach (since 1998 Metsä Tissue ). The Boltersdorf family stayed as papermakers in Kreuzau in North Rhine-Westphalia for more than 140 years before moving to Brohl am Rhein (Rhineland-Palatinate) in 1919 . Josef Boltersdorf (1879–1952) acquired a paper factory there. From 1939 the factory in Brohl stood still for a few years because the workforce was obliged to do fortification work on the western border. From 1946 his son Fritz ran the business together with his father Josef. In 1953 Fritz Boltersdorf dared to take the decisive step for today's company with the start of the production and processing of corrugated cardboard .

In 1957, another company location was founded in Ahrbrück - initially for paper production, and from 1962 also for packaging production. Another company followed in Sinn- Fleisbach (Lahn-Dill district / Hessen) and a sales office for the Moselle region in Wittlich (Rhineland-Palatinate). In 1990/91 part of the processing was relocated to the Mayen (Rhineland-Palatinate) location. In 1996 the Boltersdorf family decided to give up paper production and close the factory in Brohl. A sales office was also set up in 1996 in Nijmegen in the Netherlands. In 2000 the Ahrbrück plant was completely relocated to the Mayen location. This is where the group's main plant was built, with a floor area of almost 90,000 m² and over 35,000 m² of covered area.

In 2003, Wellpappenwerk Rheinland GmbH & Co. KG in Niederzier near Jülich was taken over. Here is specialized in demanding stamping items and high quality flexo , offset lamination and display manufacturing. With the takeover of the Ehm Group in Trier in 2006, the product and manufacturing spectrum expanded to include offset printing , inline lamination, solid board processing, reprography and printing plate production. The company relocated from Trier to Föhren (Rhineland-Palatinate) in 2009 . Here, on a plot of 62,000 m², a company with an area of 22,000 m² was built. In 2013 Brohl Wellpappe took over the majority of the display specialist USP Display BV in Dronten in the Netherlands.

The company has been family-owned since 1778. The seventh generation currently represents the current shareholders of the group.
