Untermaubach is a district of Kreuzau in the north Eifel in the district of Düren , North Rhine-Westphalia , in the Rureifel .

It lies between Kreuzau and Obermaubach . The place is known for its location at the entrance to the Eifel. In the local dialect, the place is pronounced [ uŋəˈmuːbaːx ].

history

On January 1, 1972, the Untermaubach community was incorporated into Kreuzau.

Facilities

The only church in town is St. Brigida . In addition to the church building, the parish's facilities include a kindergarten and a parish hall. There is also a small public library in the parish hall . The pastor of Untermaubach also looks after the parish of St. Appolinaris in Obermaubach . The church services are often co-organized by the church choir . The St. Josef Schützenbruderschaft belongs to Untermaubach .

Infrastructure

Untermaubach is well connected in terms of traffic. The Düren – Heimbach railway line and a bus line of the Düren district railway are available as public transport . The railway line is used regularly in the direction of Düren and Heimbach . The following cycle paths lead through the village :

The paper mill is the most important economically . It is popularly known as the Hochkoppel mill , after the Hochkoppel rock formation at the foot of which it was built. The reason for the settlement is the water of the Rur, which is ideal for paper production. It has not been privately owned since 1998; Strepp , originally named after its founder, was then renamed Metsä Tissue Kreuzau mill. In addition to this large business, Untermaubach is home to many small businesses.

There is a football club in Untermaubach with teams in different age groups. The own sports field is on the Weißenberg. Club sports are also practiced in the tennis club . The own tennis facility is located in the park on the Rurufer in the direction of Schlagstein.
