Wilhelm Heinrich Burger (born October 28, 1882 in Kalk (now Cologne ), † 1966 in Untermaubach im Rurtal), artist name Wilhelm Heinrich Burger-Willing , also Willi Hans Burger-Willing , was a German painter .

Life

Wilhelm Heinrich Burger initially trained as a decorative painter. From 1908 to 1910 he studied as a scholarship holder at the Düsseldorf Art Academy , and until 1914 he was a master student of Professor Carl Ederer and Professor Eduard von Gebhardt .

Pope Pius XI , which he had painted at the beginning of his pontificate , awarded the artist the honorary title of papal professor.

In 1935 the painter settled in Untermaubach near Düren. In the following years he had a lively exhibition activity, including in 1941 at the Great German Art Exhibition in Munich and in 1949 at the Suermondt Museum in Aachen.

Burger Willing died in 1966 at the age of 83. His great-grandson is the Cologne photographer and gallery owner Robert Mohren .

Act

His extensive work primarily includes oil paintings . In a realistic painting style, the artist dealt with people and animals in the landscapes of the Lower Rhine, the Dutch coast and especially the Eifel . Furthermore, interiors, character studies, portraits and sculptures should be mentioned as sub-areas of his work.
