Schlagstein is a residential area in the municipality of Kreuzau in the Düren district , North Rhine-Westphalia . He belongs to Obermaubach .

Schlagstein has 216 inhabitants (as of October 31, 2015). The small village is located directly on the Rur near the Obermaubach reservoir . There is no through traffic in the village. On the outskirts there is a stop on the Düren – Heimbach railway line called “Untermaubach / Schlagstein”.

The Schlagstein campsite is located directly on the Rur. It belongs to the Freizeitfreunden Rurtal eV association. On the edge of the forest there is a forest playground and the forest home of the Protestant community in Düren, which was built in 1929 and renovated after the Second World War . Generations of kindergarten children and schoolchildren have stayed in this house on excursions.

On January 1, 1972, the municipality of Obermaubach-Schlagstein was incorporated into Kreuzau.

In Schlagstein there is a saint's house built from rubble stones from 1755. It is a listed building .
