Untermaubach synagogue
The Untermaubach synagogue was located in Untermaubach , a district of Kreuzau in the Düren district in North Rhine-Westphalia .
Jews were first mentioned in Untermaubach in 1730. Most of the Jews were employed by the local Count von Spee .
Adam Roer, who derived his family name from the river Roer (= Rur ), bought a small field in 1820 and received permission to build a small synagogue on it. The Jews from neighboring villages came here to hold church services .
The Untermaubach synagogue was closed in 1814, presumably because it was in disrepair.
