The bromobenzyl alcohols form a group of substances in chemistry that is derived from both benzyl alcohol and bromobenzene . The structure consists of a benzene ring with an attached hydroxymethyl group (–CH 2 OH) and bromine (–Br) as substituents . Their different arrangements ( ortho , meta or para ) result in three constitutional isomers with the empirical formula C 7 H 7 BrO.
