Bronka Nowicka

Bronka Nowicka, actually Bronisława Nowicka (born November 17, 1974 in Radomsko ) is a Polish director , screenwriter and poet . In 2016 she received the Nike Literature Prize for her volume of poetry Nakarmić kamień , written in a “poetic prose” , in which the order of the adult world is questioned from the perspective of a child and the relationship between people and things is thematized on the basis of 40 texts on everyday objects.

Life

Nowicka graduated from the State University of Film, Television and Theater Łódź and Academy of Fine Arts Krakow . In 2002, her film study Tristis from 2001 was awarded at the international festivals at the Munich and Bologna Film Schools .

In 2005 she directed Opowieści o zwyczajnym szaleństwie (Stories of Everyday Madness) by Petr Zelenka at the Stefan Jaracz Theater in Olsztyn , in 2006 for Światła miasta (Shining City) by Conor McPherson at the Studio Theater in Warsaw , 2007 for Człowiek-śmietnik-śmietnik (The Garbage Can Man) by Matei Vișniec at the Stefan Jaracz Theater and in 2009 for Patrz, słońce zachodzi (Look, the sun goes down) by Sibylle Berg at the Teatr im. Adama Mickiewicza in Częstochowa . She directed Superniania ( The Super Nanny ) for TVN from 2006 to 2007.

In 2015 her first volume of poetry, Nakarmić kamień , was published, for which she received the 2016 Nike Literature Prize and the Ogólnopolski Bankruptcy Literacki Prize “Złoty Środek Poezji”. A new edition of this volume appeared in 2017 under the title Nakarmić kamień. Obrazy rzeczy , which was supplemented by photographs of the themed everyday objects.
