history

Broshuis special vehicle for the transport of rotor blades

The company's history began in 1885 in the small town of Muiden in North Holland with the establishment of a wheelwright shop . For the next forty years, wooden wagons and carriages were made. From 1926 to 1929, the conversion of the Ford T passenger car models into trucks with a payload of 1.50  t took place. The first Broshuis trailer was manufactured in 1929 . When the construction of the Amsterdam Hilton Hotel on the Amstel Canal in 1958 required long driving piles to be transported through the city's narrow streets, Broshuis developed the first pull-out trailer. In 1965, the company constructed the world's first extendable low-loader. However, they failed to apply for a patent for the invention, so that this type of vehicle is now offered by all competitors.

In 1975 the company changed its location and moved to the Dutch municipality of Kampen . A first major order from the Dutch armed forces for the delivery of armored transport vehicles in 1992 enabled further growth. In 1999 the company presented the first triple telescopic semi-trailer ( Triple trailer® ) at the IAA Commercial Vehicles in Hanover , and two years later it constructed the first triple extendable semi-trailer. In 2003 Broshuis received another major order from the Dutch army; In the same year, it presented a newly developed container chassis under the name 2CONnect® , which consists of two independent chassis for 20 ft containers , which are used together as a combined vehicle for the transport of two 20 ft containers or one 40 ft container are suitable. In 2004 and 2009, the plant received further major orders from the British armed forces and in 2019 major orders from the US Army for the delivery of 170 8-axle semi low-loaders with pendle axles.
