Bruce Deacon

Bruce Deacon ( Bruce William Deacon ; born December 5, 1966 in Ottawa ) is a retired Canadian marathon runner .

In 1991 he won the California International Marathon , and in 1994 he finished 20th in the London Marathon . In 1995 he was Canadian champion over 10,000 m , eleventh at the World Athletics Championships in Gothenburg and won again at the California International Marathon.

At the 1996 Olympic Games in Atlanta, he came in 39th. In 1997 he came in 19th place in London and 16th at the World Championships in Athens . A sixth place at the 1998 Turin Marathon was followed by a 27th place at the 1999 World Championships in Seville .

In 2000 he was Canadian champion with a win at the Ottawa Marathon and qualified for the Olympic Games in Sydney , where he finished 44th. The following year he defended his national championship title in Ottawa in second place, came 46th at the World Championships in Edmonton and triumphed for the third time in the California International Marathon. In 2002 he was again in second place overall in Ottawa Canadian marathon champion and was fourth in the California International Marathon. In 2003 he won the silver medal at the Pan American Games in Santo Domingo .
