The brunegg glacier is a glacier in the Swiss Alps , in the canton of Valais of Switzerland . It is around 4.3 km long (2011), an average of 1.5 km wide and covers an area of 6.1 km² (1975).

The Brunegg Glacier has its origin on the connecting ridge between the Bishorn in the west and the Brunegghorn in the east. Over the 3549  m high Bisjoch there is a connection to the south with the Bis Glacier . The Brunegg Glacier flows to the northwest and is separated from the parallel Turtmann Glacier by the rocky ridge of the Stierberg ( 3507  m ) . In the northeast, the Brunegg Glacier is bordered by the Schöllihorn ( 3500  m ). The lower part of the glacier on the cliffs of the Adlerflüe divides into two arms, one of which flows into the Turtmann glacier, but the other ends in a tongue at around 2500  m . The melt water is absorbed by Bruneggbach and the Turtmänna , which flows through the Turtmann valley to the Rhone .

At its peak during the Little Ice Age around the middle of the 19th century, the northern tongue of the Brunegg Glacier also converged with the Turtmann Glacier. As one of the few glaciers in the Swiss Alps, the Brunegg glacier showed an overall positive change in length between 1980 and 2000. Since then, however, he has been withdrawing rapidly.

On a promontory north of Brunegggletschers is at 2519  m the Turtmannhütte of the Swiss Alpine Club . It is the starting point for mountain climbs and glacier tours in the area, summit destinations are primarily Brunegghorn and the Barrhörner .
