Brunel Award

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Brunel Award is a distinction with which railway companies are recognized for outstanding achievements in the fields of architecture, graphics, industrial design, art, technical infrastructure, embedding in the environment and rolling stock. The name of the award pays homage to the British engineer Isambard Kingdom Brunel , the founder and builder of the Great Western Railway .

The prize is awarded by the Watford Group , an international voluntary organization made up of architecture and design professionals.

Awards ceremonies

The awards ceremonies are organized by railway companies and take place every two or three years in different locations. The first venue was the British city of Bristol in 1985 , one of the endpoints of the Great Western Railway. The award ceremony was then carried out by Queen Elizabeth II.
