Brunfelsia nitida is a species from the Brunfelsia section of the genus Brunfelsia . The plants are endemic to Cuba .

description

Brunfelsia nitida is a hairless shrub or small tree . The leaves are almost leathery and shiny. They are inversely lanceolate or inversely egg-shaped, they are 5 to 6.5 cm long and 1.5 to 3 cm wide. Towards the front they are pointed or tapered, the base is narrowed. The leaf stalks are 3 to 4 mm long.

The flowers stand individually in the armpits on short branches covered with bracts or occasionally the flowers are in clusters. The flower stalks are 5 to 10 mm long. The calyx is 1 to 1.2 cm long and is split almost to the base. The lanceolate or elliptical shaped calyx lobes are 7 to 8.5 mm long and pointed or pointed. The crown is colored white, the crown hem has a diameter of 3.3 to 5 cm. The corolla lobes are wavy, the corolla tube is slender and about 10 cm long. The stamens are about 1 cm long.

The fruits are spherical and about 1 cm in size. The surface is smooth and hairless. The seeds are about 5 mm long, the surface of the seeds is reticulated and pitted.

The number of chromosomes is 2n = 22.

Occurrence

Brunfelsia nitida is endemic to Cuba , is cultivated in Central America and on other Caribbean islands and is occasionally wild there.
