Bruno Beccerus

Bruno Beccerus (also: Becker ; * 1582 in Oschersleben ; † December 8, 1609 in Leipzig ) was a German educator and logician.

Life

The son of the mayor of Oschersleben Johann Becker and his wife Margaretha (née Gesen) had attended school in his hometown. After the visit he attended the Aegidi School in Braunschweig in 1595 , the Convent School in Marienthal in 1599 and then the Gymnasium in Eisleben . In 1601 he began studying at the University of Leipzig to study philosophy and theology. Here he became a baccalaurus in 1607 and a master's degree in philosophy in 1608 .

From 1605 he was a teacher, later vice rector at the Nikolaischule , in 1606 a member of the great prince's college and assessor at the philosophical faculty, of which he became dean in 1606. In 1609 he was appointed professor of logic at the Leipzig University, which office he held until the end of his life. His body was buried in Leipzig on December 12th.
