Karl Franz Lubert Haas

Karl Franz Lubert Haas (born August 12, 1722 in Kassel , † October 29, 1789 in Marburg ) was a German historian , theologian , philosopher and church historian .

Life

Haas' father, who had worked as feudal secretary in Kassel, died when Haas was 14 years old. He was taught both privately and in schools in his hometown. In 1739 Haas attended Rinteln University ; the next year he moved to the University of Marburg , where he studied history and then theology . At Easter 1748 Haas began lecturing history in Marburg . In March of the year 1754 he obtained an extraordinary professorship in philosophy and in May of the next year a full professorship in Marburg. In 1758 Haas also became a professor of church history . In 1778 he was given the management of the Marburg University Library .
