Bruno Dost

Gustav Bruno Dost (born July 6, 1849 in Werda ; † December 10, 1916 in Dresden ) was a German pedagogue, cantor and composer in the western Ore Mountains . His brother is Guido Alfred Dost .

Live and act

Gustav Bruno Dost attended the royal seminary in Neureudnitz from 1863 to 1869 and then studied at the Leipzig Conservatory . From 1873 he was a senior teacher at the royal teachers' college in the mountain town of Schneeberg (Ore Mountains) . In 1884 he was one of the founders of the Glückauf mountain choir in Schneeberg. In 1888 Bruno Dost became music director and professor. Two years later he also took over the office of cantor in the Schneeberg St. Wolfgang Church . The Upper Erzgebirge Gausängerbund appointed Dost as its chairman in 1896. In 1899 he met the pianist Clara Schumann personally in Schneeberg . In 1904 he moved to the royal teachers' college in Annaberg and, from 1913, spent his retirement in Dresden.
